Feast Day!

St. Francis of Assisi, also known as Francis Bernadone, is the founder of the Fransican order. It is said that during one of his visits to Rome, he met St. Dominic the founder of the Dominican order and the two became friends. Indeed, the two orders are known as "brother orders".

St. Francis is the patron of animals, birds, families, the environment, merchants, tapestry workers and needle workers. He is represented by birds, fish, deer, a lamb, a skull, the stigmata and the wolf.
