Feast Day!

St. Elizabeth was born as the daughter of the King of Hungary, but at a very young age she betrothed to the son of the King of Thungaria and was sent to live at the castle with the royal family. She received her education there, and was soon noted to be of a devoutly religious turn of mind.
Elizabeth married Prince Louis when she was only 13 and the couple had three children. Much to the dismay of the royal court, Elizabeth spent a great amount of time and money in caring for the poor and the needy. Even her husband, a charitable man himself, became frustrated with her at times.
One famous anecdote goes, that one day Elizabeth was leaving the castle with a food and other supplies for the poor. On her way out, she met Louis, who asked her what it was she was carrying. When she showed him, he did not see food, but saw roses instead.
Louis died while on a crusade, leaving the 20 year old Elizabeth and her children alone. She sold all her possessions, worked for food and money to support her children, and became a third order Fransican. She continued her charitable works towards the poor.
Elizabeth died in 1231. She is the patroness of bakers, beggars, brides, charitable workers, exiles, falsely accused people, hospitals, homeless, problems with in-laws, laceworkers, tertiaries and widows.

St. Elizabeth... Pray for Us!

  1. I just read on your Mom's blog that you are building a website - how come you didn't tell us??????

you have absolutely got to email the link to me me when it is finished!

    M. and I won't be at GC tomorrow because we are terribly busy the rest of the week and finals are next week - you get the idea.

While you're there, could you nonchalantly suggest that someone update the website - don't say I told you to, because they'll just roll their eyes (M. and I were the ones who were bugging them about it the last time it was updated!)

~Cap (I absolutely have got to lend you that book!!!!)

P.S. you know who I am, right? Or is my code name a bit too mysterious?

  2. I never told you??? Hmm... well, don't feel too bad. The only person I've ever mentioned it too was Christine, so you aren't too far out of the loop!

    Good luck with Finals!

Yes, I shall try too. It really needs updating!

Don't worry, I know who you are! ;)
