The Twelfth Day of Christmas

What was the first gift of Christmas?
That is the question elderly widow Mary asks her friend Richard, a young hard working man with a family that he doesn't have much time for. In the book "The Christmas Box", dreams of a stone angel, music and a Christmas Box that he finds up in the attic of Mary's house, haunt Richard as he continues to work away his daughter's childhood.
The Christmas Box contains something mysterious, letters from Mary, written as to someone she obviously loved very much. It's not until Christmas Eve, when Mary is in the hospital dying of a brain tumor, that Richard finds out that the letters are written to Mary's daughter Angela, who died when she was only three years old. It is then that Richard realizes what the first gift of Christmas was...
A parent's love.
